Creationism in Schools WTF?

Science and religion versus creationism and idiot religious beliefs

I recently saw a debate that was on television where they were asking should creationism be taught in schools. This was in British Schools too! I can't help but be amazed by the stupidity and ignorance of supposedly intelligent people that are taking the theist point of view. In this debate there was a British Muslim who believed that under Sharia law a woman should be stoned to death for adultery. He was an obnoxious sonofabitch that just came straight out fighting with saying things like the Koran is true! He was wearing the uniform of Islam and had a Moslem beard and had a comment that men without beards were homosexuals. The man was just plain belligerent and nasty.

Then there were a bunch of Christians that came down both sides of whether creationism should be taught in schools or not. I can't help but find it incredible that people are so wilfully ignorant and silly with the things they say in defence of their beliefs. They have obviously been indoctrinated by their parents and by their culture and then won't look at the facts objectively and make their own decisions. You would think that it would be impossible for a stupid irrational beliefs to be able to trump clear facts. In the minds of the theists, just about anything is possible.

As far as I'm concerned, people have the right to believe whatever they want to believe. I also have the right to mercilessly take the piss out of them for being stupid and to ridicule their beliefs.

I was surprised that in this debate there were very few that were standing up on behalf of atheists. There should have been more than just the one humanist who was there ready to say a word or two on behalf of atheists. I really think that religion has had its own way in terms of control and power over people's lives for far too long and it is about time things changed.

Religion should be kept strictly to the houses of worship. It should not be allowed to disrupt schools and ordinary day-to-day life. Religion should not have any influence over politics in any way shape or form.
